About Forgotten Spells
Handcrafted proxies. Every card, by hand.
Magic shouldn't cost a fortune to play
Forgotten Spells started with a simple frustration: the best cards in Magic: The Gathering are often the ones nobody can afford. Staples that define Commander tables, lands that make decks consistent, spells that have shaped the game for decades — locked away behind price tags that put them out of reach for most players.
So I started making them myself. What began as proxies for my own decks turned into something bigger — a shop where any player can get their hands on the cards they actually want to play, without the financial barrier. Forgotten Spells is a one-person operation, built card by card, order by order.
Our process
How every card is made
No mass production. No cutting corners. Here's exactly what goes into every order.
Printed on glossy photo paper
Every card is printed on Koala Double-Sided Glossy Photo Paper (42lb) using an Epson EcoTank ET-2803 — a printer built for color accuracy and consistency. The result is vivid, true-to-art prints with a professional gloss finish, not the dull look you get from plain cardstock.
Laminated for durability
Each printed sheet is run through a 3mil laminating pouch before cutting. This adds a protective layer that makes the cards more rigid, scratch-resistant, and gives them a feel closer to a real Magic card in hand.
Precision cut — the right tool for each card
Standard cards are cut on a Silhouette Cameo 4 for clean, consistent edges every time. Holo foil cards get a different treatment — a metal card die cutter purpose-built for the job, so the foil surface stays pristine and the cut is just as sharp. Every card type gets the process it deserves.
Individually inspected
Before anything gets packed, every single card is checked by hand. Print quality, cut accuracy, lamination, color — if something isn't right, it doesn't ship. Simple as that.
Sleeved, toploaded & sealed
Each card goes into a penny sleeve, then a toploader, then into a bubble mailer. Your cards arrive protected — ready to pull out and drop straight into your deck.
Every order that leaves here has been touched, checked, and cared for by one person who plays this game and knows what quality actually means at the table.
